Born 09.24.1961 in Ciego de Avila (Cuba)

  • Born into a musical family - (his father led his own orchestra that was rehearsing at home!) - He grew up with music.
  • In the quarter where Ardiles grew up , there was a lot of Rumba played in the street, on drums, boxes, bottles, cans, sticks, etc. In his early years until about the age of 13, he tried out several instruments, such as piano, violin, guitar, percussion instruments and others, taught by his father.
  • At the age of 13 (1974) he was in school "Escuela Provincial de Artes"  in Camagüey, where he began to learn trombone.
  • 1978-1980 visiting  the school "Escuela Nacional de Artes" in La Habana.
  • Over that period of study he participated in many local and national performances and festivals , such as "el festival mundial de la Juventud y los Estudiantes" and "Festival de Beny Moré de Ciego de Avila," El Centenario del Danzón "in the Teatro García Lorca and more
  • From 1980 to 1989 worked as professional musicians in groups like Yaque El Yambú (de Morón), Progreso, etc.
  • In 1981 he won the firt price of the competition  Adolf Guzman  with the group Yamú.
  • The band "Progreso" was the first ensemble, which he directed and for which he composed and arranged, together with his teacher Jesús Lacerda, "one of the greatest musicians I ever met, with whom I had the honour to work with for 10 years  in various formations. "
  • In January 1989, Ardiles became a member of the glorious ensemble Conjunto Rumbavana.  Many  television performances, concerts, mostly during the Carnival season.
  • In February 1990,  A. started to play with "Orquesta Revé y su Charangón," one of the most famous and most popular orchestras of Cuba.

Within 6 years he recorded 3 CDs with Orquesta Revé. “Mi Salsa tiene sandunga”; one of his trombone Solos on that CD became a hit, recognized by the press. On the CD “Papá Elewa” he had the honour to write 5 arrangements. On “Arriba la manos” also three. With “la Revé”  his international career began; tours through Europe (Spain,Italy, France, Switzerland, Slovenia, Germany), Japan and Canada.

  • Since 1996 he lives in Europe, first in Barcelona, later in the same year he moved to Germany, where he lives since then and where he ha been working with several very important bands and musicians of different origins, including Seis del Son, Macondito, Duo Café, Felipe Rengifo -Mandingo, El Indio, Soul Family and Tony Martinez, Melcochita, Lou Bega, Cubanisimo, Dany Martínez y Labana, Salsamanía, Macumbaché, Conexion Latina, etc., with which he played national and international festivals and concerts.
  • He also runs his own orchestra "Ardiles Ruiz y su Herencia".
  • Since 2006 he is a permanent member of Salsamanía
